Emergency Care Instructor

Course Description

Designed for Emergency Care Instructor candidates with a focus on instructional techniques required to deliver the Canadian Red Cross’ specialized courses such as First Responder or Marine Advanced First Aid; these include delivering scenarios, teaching in varied environments, and organizing specialized courses. The course content accommodates a variety of Instructor candidates which encourages a rich learning environment built on instructional skills. It also allows Instructors to be able to teach other First Aid programs with minimal course work.

Prerequisites

Proof of appropriate participant-level certification (either First Responder or Marine Advanced First Aid); completion of Red Cross First Aid Instructor course, completed skills competency checklist for participant level, pre-course assignment, 19 years of age.

Completion Requirements

100% attendance, skills demonstration, and 80% min. passing grade on written exam.

Certification

3-year certification as Emergency Care Instructor.

Recertification

8 hours.

Post-Course Requirements

Meets the requirement of the co-teach form as outlined by the Instructor Trainer at the appropriate certification.
